How do I scan my first document?

Tap the "Capture" tab at the bottom of the screen, then tap the large camera button. Point your camera at a document, receipt, or product label and tap the shutter button. SnapSort will automatically recognize and categorize the content.

What types of documents can I scan?

SnapSort can scan and organize:

  • Receipts and invoices
  • Bills and statements
  • Contracts and legal documents
  • Product labels and warranties
  • Business cards
  • Letters and correspondence
  • Any text-based document

Do I need an internet connection?

No! SnapSort works completely offline. All text recognition and categorization happens on your device using advanced on-device AI.

How do I search for a specific document?

Tap the "Search" tab and use the search bar to find documents by name, category, tags, or any text content. You can also filter by document type, date range, or archived status.

How do I organize my scans?

SnapSort automatically categorizes your scans into smart folders like Bills, Receipts, Warranties, and more. You can also manually edit categories, add tags, and create custom notes for each item.

Can I export my documents?

Yes! Open any scanned item and tap "Export PDF" to generate a professional PDF report that includes the scanned images and extracted information. You can then share it via email, messages, or save it to Files.

How do I set up reminders?

When viewing a document, tap "Edit" and set an expiration or reminder date. SnapSort will send you a local notification when the date approaches. Make sure you've enabled notifications in the app settings.

Is my data safe?

Absolutely. Everything stays on your iPhone. SnapSort never uploads your scans to any server or cloud service. Your documents are protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID).

Do you collect any data about me?

No. We don't collect any personal information, usage analytics, or tracking data. We can't see what you scan because it never leaves your device. Read our Privacy Policy for full details.

What happens if I delete the app?

All your scanned documents and data will be permanently removed from your device. Make sure to export any important documents before uninstalling.

βš™οΈ Troubleshooting

The text recognition isn't accurate

For best results:

  • Ensure good lighting when scanning
  • Hold your device steady and parallel to the document
  • Make sure the text is in focus
  • Avoid shadows or glare on the document
  • Use the Document Scanner mode for multi-page documents

You can always manually edit the extracted text after scanning.

I'm not receiving notifications

Check that:

  • You've enabled notifications during onboarding or in Settings β†’ SnapSort β†’ Notifications
  • You've set a reminder date on your documents
  • Your device's Do Not Disturb mode isn't blocking notifications

The camera isn't working

Make sure you've granted camera permission to SnapSort. Go to Settings β†’ SnapSort β†’ Camera and enable access. If the issue persists, try restarting the app or your device.

How do I delete multiple items at once?

In the Search tab, tap "Edit" in the top-left corner, select the items you want to delete, then tap "Delete" at the bottom of the screen.

Can I recover deleted items?

No, deleted items are permanently removed. Consider using the Archive feature instead if you want to hide items without deleting them.

Quick Actions

Use the Quick Actions on the Home screen for common tasks like scanning documents or receipts with optimized settings.

Smart Folders

Browse your documents by category using Smart Folders. SnapSort automatically organizes your scans into relevant categories based on the content.

Expense Insights

Check the Insights tab to see monthly spending summaries and top merchants based on your scanned receiptsβ€”all calculated offline on your device.

Dark Mode

SnapSort automatically adapts to your device's appearance settings. Enable Dark Mode in your device settings for a comfortable viewing experience in low light.
