1. Information We Do Not Collect

When you use Swiss Museum, your personal identity remains entirely private. Specifically:

• No User Accounts: You do not need to register, log in, or provide an email address to use any app feature.
• No Tracking & No Ads: We do not include third-party advertising frameworks, tracking pixels, or cross-app analytics services.
• No Personal Profile Aggregation: Your reading history, search queries, quiz responses, and offline favorites stay strictly on your device.

2. On-Device Data & Optional System Permissions

Swiss Museum provides several features that utilize iOS system features on your explicit request. All data processing for these features occurs locally on your device:

A. Location Services (Optional)

If you grant location access, Swiss Museum uses your device's current location solely to calculate distances to nearby protected townscapes, museums, archives, castles, and heritage sites on the interactive map. Your location coordinates are never sent to external servers or stored by us.

B. Calendar Access (Optional)

If you choose to use the itinerary planning tool to add heritage visits to your calendar, the app requests permission to create calendar events. Event details are written directly to your system calendar. We do not view, collect, or upload your calendar entries.

C. Audio Narration & Spoken Guides

Audio playback and synchronized transcriptions run completely on-device. Spoken text synthesizers utilize standard iOS speech capabilities without transmitting audio records to remote endpoints.

3. Remote Data Sources & API Calls

To display authoritative Swiss cultural records, Swiss Museum fetches public domain artwork metadata, artist biographies, and geographic heritage inventories from verified Swiss open-data APIs:

• Swiss National Library (Gugelmann & Schwarzenbach OGD exports)
• SIK-ISEA SIKART artist database
• Swisstopo GeoAdmin REST API (ISOS & Protection of Cultural Property inventories)

These server queries request standard public datasets over secure HTTPS connection. Standard network logging by public API endpoints may record basic web request metadata (such as IP address and user-agent string), but no identifiable app token or personal profile is ever attached.

4. Data Storage & Backup

Your saved favorites, custom exhibitions, itineraries, journal entries, and app settings are stored locally on your device using standard iOS sandboxed storage. If you enable system-level iCloud Backups on your device, your local Swiss Museum app data will be included in your personal encrypted Apple iCloud backup according to Apple's privacy policy.

5. Children’s Privacy

Swiss Museum is rated for all ages (4+) and is fully compliant with child privacy protection guidelines (COPPA / GDPR kids rules). We do not collect any personal data from anyone, including children.
