How is this different from ChatGPT?

Unlike cloud-based services, Own AI runs on your device for local models and can also use Apple Intelligence when selected. With local models, your data stays on-device. When using Apple Intelligence, your content may be processed by Apple to generate responses.

Why is the "Apple Intelligence" status Red?

This usually means Apple Intelligence is not enabled in your iOS system settings. Go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri and ensure it is activated for your device.

The AI is taking a long time to respond.

Generation speed depends on your device's processor. To improve speed:

• Disable Low Power Mode.
• Ensure your device is not overheating.
• Use smaller models like Gemma 2B for faster performance.

How do I use my own documents?

Tap the "+" button in the chat view to upload PDFs or text files. Own AI will analyze them locally and allow you to ask questions about the content.

Troubleshooting

If you experience crashes or issues downloading models, try restarting the app or checking your storage space (models require 1.5GB - 5GB of free space).
