1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how MDViewer ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use the application. MDViewer is developed and published by Alice Turcanu. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at alice.turcanu91@gmail.com.

2. Information we do not collect

MDViewer is a local, offline document viewer and editor. It does not include analytics, advertising, tracking, or telemetry frameworks. Specifically, MDViewer does not:

• Collect or transmit the content of the files you open, view, or edit;
• Require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information;
• Send your documents, file names, or folder structure to any server;
• Track your usage, location, or device activity for advertising or analytics purposes;
• Share any data with third parties, because no data is collected in the first place.

3. Local data storage

MDViewer stores a small amount of information locally on your Mac, using Apple's standard UserDefaults system, to remember your app preferences (such as appearance settings, recently opened files or workspaces, and window layout). This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

Files you open with MDViewer are read directly from — and, when you save changes, written directly back to — the location you choose on your Mac or in a location you have connected (such as an iCloud Drive or external drive folder you selected). MDViewer does not copy this content elsewhere.

4. File and folder access

MDViewer requests access to files and folders only when you explicitly open them (for example, via File → Open or by opening a workspace folder), consistent with the macOS App Sandbox. This access is used solely to display and edit content on your behalf and is never transmitted off your device.

5. Data collected by Apple

Because MDViewer is distributed through the Mac App Store, Apple may independently collect certain data (such as crash logs, download statistics, or purchase history) under Apple's own privacy policy. This data collection is outside of our control and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not this one.

6. Children's privacy

MDViewer does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13, because it does not collect information at all.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App or for legal reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of MDViewer after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
