Introduction

Welcome to ChessMentor. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how our mobile application handles your information when you use the app.

ChessMentor is designed to work offline. Your lessons, puzzles, games, and progress stay on your device. The only features that leave your device are optional ones you choose to use: an in-app subscription, which Apple processes, and Game Center, if you sign in to it.

Information We Collect

Unlike many modern applications, ChessMentor does not require you to create an account, register, or log in. We do not gather or store any personally identifiable information (PII) on external servers.

• Local Progress Data: Your chess ratings, puzzle solving history, completed lessons, and settings are saved locally on your device using standard secure local storage.
• Crash & Performance logs: Apple may collect anonymous diagnostic and usage data if you have consented to share it in your iOS settings. This data helps us improve the stability and performance of the app.
• Payment & Billing Information: ChessMentor offers an optional auto-renewable subscription, ChessMentor Premium. All payment processing, billing, and transactions are handled securely by Apple Inc. through the App Store. We do not collect, process, or store any of your financial data, such as credit card numbers, bank details, or billing addresses. The app only receives from Apple a signed confirmation of whether your subscription is currently active.
• Game Center (optional): If you sign in to Game Center, Apple shares your Game Center player identity with the app so that your Puzzle Rush score can appear on the leaderboard and your achievements can be recorded. Your leaderboard entry and achievements are stored by Apple on Game Center, not by us, and are governed by Apple’s privacy policy. You can decline Game Center or turn it off in your iOS settings at any time, and the rest of the app continues to work normally.

How We Use Your Data

Your local data is used solely to provide and personalize your experience within ChessMentor, including:

• Tracking your daily streak and progress through lessons.
• Calculating and adjusting your chess rating based on solved puzzles.
• Saving your preferences, such as board theme, coordinates, and coaching notifications.

Data Sharing and Security

We do not share, sell, or rent your data to any third parties, and we do not use advertising or third-party analytics. We operate no servers of our own: apart from the subscription and Game Center features described above, which are handled by Apple, your information stays on your device.

Your data remains fully under your control. You can delete all your progress data at any time from the app's settings via the "Reset all progress" option. Game Center scores and achievements are managed through your Apple Account rather than by us; you can remove them in your Game Center settings.

Children's Privacy

ChessMentor is suitable for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children under the age of 13, and the app requires no account, name, email address, or profile.

Game Center is optional and is controlled by the Apple Account signed in to the device. Parents can disable Game Center, restrict multiplayer and leaderboards, and prevent in-app purchases using Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date above.
