No accounts, no tracking
Swiss Day Trips does not require you to create an account or sign in. The app does not use analytics SDKs, advertising identifiers, or third-party trackers, and it does not build a profile of you or your device for advertising purposes.
What stays on your device
Saved destinations, trip notes, packing checklists, recently viewed places, comparison selections, and app settings are stored locally using Apple's on-device storage (app-scoped UserDefaults, shared with the Home Screen widget through an App Group so your favourites appear in both places). This data is not uploaded to any server we operate, and it is deleted automatically if you delete the app.
What is sent over the network, and to whom
To show you live schedules, routes, and weather, the app sends only the information required to fulfil a specific request to these public data providers:
- transport.opendata.ch — Swiss public transport schedules and connections
- geo.admin.ch — Swiss federal geodata and place lookup
- open-meteo.com — weather forecasts
- OpenStreetMap — accessibility and getting-around data, © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under the ODbL
A typed search sends the search text you entered. A location-based search sends only the resolved place name and coordinate — never a continuous location trail. Each provider's own privacy practices govern the data they receive; please refer to their respective sites for details.
Location access
Swiss Day Trips only asks for your location when you tap "Use my current location" to search for trips starting near you. Location is used in the moment of that search and is not collected, stored, or used for any other purpose. You can deny or revoke location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services without losing any other functionality.
Calendar, Reminders, and sharing
If you choose to export a trip to Calendar, schedule a Reminder, or share a trip, the app writes only what you explicitly asked it to write, using Apple's system frameworks. Nothing is sent to us as part of these actions.
Subscriptions and payment
Swiss Day Trips Pro purchases are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see or store your payment details — Apple manages billing, receipts, and renewal according to your App Store account. See our Terms of Use for subscription terms.
Data retention
Because your saved data lives on your device, it persists only as long as the app is installed. Deleting the app removes it. We do not retain copies on any server we operate.
Children's privacy
Swiss Day Trips is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
