Privacy Policy

Effective September 16, 2026
PrivyScan has no servers and no accounts. Everything it detects and stores stays on your device. The only time the app touches the network is to offer the optional PrivyScan Pro subscription — which is handled entirely by Apple's App Store — and even then, nothing about what you scan is ever sent anywhere.

What PrivyScan does

PrivyScan scans for nearby Bluetooth Low Energy devices — smart glasses, cameras, and trackers — and helps you tell whether something unfamiliar is simply nearby or has been following you from place to place.

Information we don't collect

We don't collect analytics, crash reports, advertising identifiers, or any data about you or your device. PrivyScan doesn't know who you are, and has no way to find out — there is no account, no sign-in, and no connection to any PrivyScan server, because none exists.

What stays on your device

The following information is created and stored only in PrivyScan's own private storage on your device, using Apple's on-device SwiftData framework:

None of this ever leaves your device. You can clear detection history and trusted devices at any time from within the app.

Permissions PrivyScan asks for

You can grant, restrict, or revoke any of these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app. PrivyScan's core scanning still works with only "When in Use" location access; background re-scanning after you change places needs "Always."

The one thing PrivyScan connects to

If you turn on the optional "Identify silent devices" setting, PrivyScan will briefly connect to a nearby device that broadcasts no name, vendor, or services, read its list of services, and disconnect. Nothing is paired, and no data is read from or written to the device beyond that service list. This setting is off by default, and is the only situation in which PrivyScan initiates a connection rather than passively listening.

Purchases and subscriptions

PrivyScan offers an optional subscription, PrivyScan Pro. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using Apple's StoreKit framework — PrivyScan never sees or receives your name, payment card, or Apple Account details. Whether you are subscribed is confirmed by a signed receipt that Apple provides on your device; PrivyScan reads only that entitlement, stores nothing about the purchase on any server (it has none), and the scan data described above is never involved in a purchase. Apple's handling of a transaction is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data sharing

PrivyScan does not share, sell, or transmit your scan data or any personal information to anyone. Aside from the Apple-operated purchase flow described above, the app has no mechanism to transmit data anywhere. There are no third-party analytics libraries or advertising frameworks in the app.

Children's privacy

PrivyScan does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Effective" date above will be updated and the new version will ship with the next app update. Material changes will be described in the app's release notes.
